RE: BIG CHANGES ARE COMING SOON (Nov 15 2023)

I can’t believe they went through all the trouble of creating a new website, then alienating a great majority of the members by not allowing spaces in the user name. As of right now most of us can’t use it unless we create a new account. Until then I’ll be on IRV2!

RE: Help! Am i making the right decision

33% off is pretty good. Buy the one you like! Which sounds like it’s the Venture.

RE: Tow Vehicle w/ Best Back Seat for Passengers - Ram Mega Cab?

The Ram Crew Cab has plenty of room in the back seat. And you don’t lose bed space.

RE: 2025 Ram 1500

A plug in hybrid is the only real way to go.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Unfortunately this is what happens with these kinds of builds. Too much time taking pictures and posting things being glued together or a pic of a hammer when that time could be spent getting it done! It was good while it lasted though!

RE: Gulf coast things to do!

Thanks everyone. We had a great time. The beaches in AL were great, don’t like that they charge for parking though. FL and MS don’t charge for beach front parking! The shrimp festival was good, but only 2 shrimp vendors and a lot of random junk for sale! Still a good walk through. Traffic was bad. Do they really need to shut down the main road In town? It sure doesn’t look like it needs to be shut down! MS was OK, we aren’t gamblers so the beach was it for us. New Orleans? Sorry I wasted a 1/2 day there. We got there at noon and went to the French quarter. Stayed till 8 and came back to the RV. Me and the wife talked and left for Branson the next morning! We could’ve used that extra day in Branson or AL. Still a great trip though! Had a great time at 3 of the 4 places we went!

RE: Prestone all-vehicle coolant

I can tell you from experience. Those “all vehicle coolants” will contaminate the system. Requiring it to be flushed. Just buy the proper coolant and be done!

RE: Damaged hydraulic leveler hoses

I replaced all of my hoses last year, I also have hydraulic slides. Went to Pirtek where I got much stronger (higher psi) and better hoses. Cost me $1800 but well worth it. You’ll want to do them ASAP because if a hose blows you will have fluid everywhere! On my failure it was after a very hard dip on the highway which pushed the slide out out a bit and ruptured what was probably a bad hose (blew at the pump). The pump ran for hours till I realized what it was doing. The. I learned that the system requires pressure for the pump to turn off. This year the pump failed because of that failure. Pump is $1000!!!!! Replace them all now with higher quality hoses and not those from LCI/Lippert!

RE: Looking for LED headlight upgrade options

Are you willing to share the brand you're using? I got them off Amazon. These are for my 16 Ram. I have the dpsame brand but different number for my MH with projectors and my wife’s Explorer with projectors. All of which have excellent visibility and have never failed. Ram LED bulbs How long have those bulbs lasted? It’s great to hear what works and what doesn’t. Also interesting on the type/orientation of the LEDs in projectors. To the OP I understand not liking the OE projectors. Yes they’re a bit better than normal old reflector lenses but not enough to matter IMO. I’m no headlight expert but IMO, basically any plain old reflector light with a decent LED in it is quite bright. I have had them for 4 years in my Explorer, 3 years in the MH and about 2 years in the Ram. No complaints.

RE: Looking for LED headlight upgrade options

I have projectors. I've perused all the Ram websites thoroughly and virtually nobody has had great success using LEDs in projectors. The light scatters. Getting an LED to recreate the halogen filament location is apparently much trickier in a projector. I have a 16 with the projector and LEDs and the light does not scatter. The reflector housings will scatter the light. The LED has to be mounted so the the LED chip is on the sides at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions. The bulbs are adjustable so this can be accomplished. It also need the right LED bulb. It has to be the kind with just the 2 chips on either side. If it’s the ones that have about 10 LEDs all over it then the light will be everywhere!

RE: Looking for LED headlight upgrade options

I have projector housings unfortunately. They don't enjoy the same characteristics. LEDs don't seem to work well in them. HID might be an option, but I would like something totally reliable. Do you mean reflector housing? Because projector housing are exactly what you want to install an LED bulb.

RE: EV use the 30 amp 110V?

It will still only charge on level 1 which is 110V. The 50A would charge it at level 2 if you had a portable charger that would plug into the 50A, (50A has 2 110V legs which would be 220V).

RE: 30ft Travel Trailer how common in the US

Had a 28 ft then a 35 ft for 13 years. Love the extra room. However it looks as if the ones by you may be built better!

RE: Gulf coast things to do!

The alligator alley we've traveled is in FL. Way down in FL. Is there another one? It’s basically an Alligator Zoo in AL. Something to do for an hour or so!

RE: Gulf coast things to do!

Thanks everyone. We will be down there the 10-12. We are staying at Sun Outdoors which borders the state park. We are bringing our bikes so we will be doing some riding. Sounds like we will miss the festival, which we do like to go to them. And I had seen the dauphin island, but wasn’t sure what to expect.

Gulf coast things to do!

Hello. We will be in AL (Orange Beach), MS (Biloxi area) and LA (New Orleans) in 2 weeks. We will be pretty much be along the water the entire time. Looking for suggestions on things to do. I’ve already got all the basics and some odd things planned. Looking for fun and different things to do. New Orleans isn’t a problem as we will only be there for a day and a half to see the French Quarter). Thanks.

RE: Reasonably decent towed vehicles for a Class A

We have a 13 Explorer that we tow. It’s 4WD but this generation of Explorer can also be towed if it were only FWD. the Ford Edge of similar years can also be towed.

RE: Tow haul mode

In a MH T/H should always be n whenever you start the engine. Reason being that the MH is always hauling because it’s loaded from the factory. Provides all around better performance and fuel efficiency.

RE: What insurance do you carry on your TOAD?

I have full coverage. But if it’s an older vehicle like say a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with over 100k miles the. It’s not worth it to have comprehensive.
